From the Director

Welcome Letter from Mr. Whitehair

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

I am very excited to being the 2013-2014 school year! The Band Boosters Executive Board and I have been planning many challenging and rewarding activities for the band this year. All of the activities the band participates in could not go on without the support of the boosters group. Details on fundraising, trip planning, and uniform fitting take much time and thought and I am very appreciative and grateful for their hard work. With that being said, I feel the program is making excellent progress. Before I took this job, only 14 students had registered for the band. This year's concert band enrollment stands at 121, while our second season of marching band has 40 members.

Over the past two years, students and parents alike have witnessed the band's improved performances. I am happy to welcome 60 freshmen to this year's ranks. Several of the freshmen are already "stand-outs" in class due to excellent instruction form their respective middle schools. Ms. Brittney Lynn, Stevensville Middle School and Mr. James Bean, Matapeake Middle School have done excellent jobs working with the students.

I hope students and parents are all onboard as we go forward with this school year! Again, I am excited to be working with the kids and I will challenge them often. Also, my classroom is always open to parents, Please feel free any time ot attend our rehearsals (1:00 PM in the band room).

Sincerely,

Luke Whitehair
